RALEIGH, N.C. – The Carolina volleyball team (12-2, 4-1 ACC) fell to NC State (8-5, 3-2 ACC) in four sets (25-23, 18-25, 22-25, 22-25) Friday in Reynolds Coliseum. The Tar Heels kept it close in all four sets, but ultimately came up short.
One bright spot came when Mabrey Shaffmaster passed Erin Berg (1995-1998)for eighth all-time with the 123rd service ace of her career. That came in the first set.
In the third set UNC looked like it might turn around the match, mounting a six-point comeback before losing by three.
The Tar Heels will look to bounce back against Wake Forest at Reynolds Gymnasium on Sunday, Oct. 13, at 3:30 p.m. EST in Winston-Salem.
