October 24, 2024 | Swimming & Diving
CHAPEL HILL, NC. – As Carolina swimmers and divers open their season, they face an early test against Auburn University and the University of South Carolina this weekend. The SEC competition starts on Friday, Oct. 25 at noon EST against Auburn. South Carolina begins on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 9:00 a.m.
The Tar Heels were slated to start their season at the end of September, but that meet in Charlotte was canceled due to weather.
Friday's meet against Auburn will be the fourth in program history against Auburn for both the men's and women's squads. Auburn already has a win against UNC Wilmington under its belt.
Saturday's swimming and diving meet will be the 40th between North Carolina and South Carolina for the men and the 21st for the women. South Carolina's women's team is coming off of a win against Vanderbilt.
In last year's dual meet against South Carolina, the women's team tied South Carolina, while the men's team won 161-139.
Friday's meet is the 'Think Pink' match, during which fans are encouraged to wear pink to honor those whose lives have been impacted by breast cancer. The first 50 fans will receive a free pink swimming and diving t-shirt.
Saturday's meet will feature an autograph/meet-and-greet session, with the current Olympians and Olympic Trials qualifiers signing autographs after the meet.
Rankings:
North Carolina's women's team is ranked No. 21 in the country. Auburn's men's and women's teams check in at No. 16 and No. 19. South Carolina's women's team is ranked No. 17.
