BERKELEY, Calif. – Sophomore Charly Bruder led the way with a hat trick as the North Carolina field hockey team wrapped up its West Coast swing Sunday afternoon with a 3-1 win at California.

Top-ranked UNC improved to 8-0 on the season while the No. 20 Golden Bears fell to 6-3.

Bruder scored one each in the second, third and fourth quarters, with Ryleigh Heck assisting on the first two and Sanne Hak on the third.

California scored on a penalty corner in the third quarter to pull within a goal at 2-1, but Bruder's final tally gave UNC some breathing room in the final minutes.

Next up for the Tar Heels is a trip to play at Louisville on Friday.
