Rabman & Evans Win ITA Sectional Doubles Title

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.—Tar Heels Tatum Evans and Theadora Rabman won the ITA East Sectional Doubles championship and teammate Carson Tanguilig fell in the singles final on Sunday at the Chewning Tennis Center.
Evans and Rabman won Sunday's doubles final by default over Irina Balus and Elizabeth Coleman of Duke.
Meanwhile, Tanguilig came from behind to beat Kaitlyn Carnicella, 0-6, 6-4, 7-6 (3) in Sunday morning's semifinal round. Sarah Hamner beat Tanguilig, 6-1, 6-4, in the singles final on Sunday. Tanguilig previously had earned a bid to this month's NCAA Singles Championship by virtue of her win on Saturday to advance to the semifinals.
Tanguilig is the first Tar Heel in program history to qualify for the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships four times each.
The NCAA Championships will be held later this month in Waco, Texas.
