Women's Golf Signs Ridenour & Yu
November 13, 2024 | Women's Golf
Grace Ridenour of Raleigh and Ellen Yu of Greensboro have signed to attend the University of North Carolina and compete on the women's golf team, head coach Aimee Neff announced today.
"We're thrilled to welcome two talented players from the state of North Carolina to our program," says Neff, who is in her fourth season as UNC's head coach. "Ellen and Grace are accomplished junior golfers who bring a wealth of experience and will look to make an immediate impact. Their passion for the game, combined with their competitive drive, aligns perfectly with the values and culture of our team in addition to their excellence in the classroom. We're excited to see what they will achieve with us."
Ridenour is a four-time all-state honoree, who won her first AJGA title in 2023 and has two wins in AJGA qualifiers and nine AGJA top 10s. A member of the 2023 Carolinas Team in the Mid-Atlantic Matches, she placed fourth in the inaugural Granny Invitational last summer, seventh in the 2023 Dixie Women's Amateur and 12th in the 2024 Carolinas Women's Am. She has a dozen top-three finishes on the Peggy Kirk Bell Golf Tour, including a win last week in the PKBGT Invitational at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington.
Ridenour attends Crossroads FLEX High School out of Cary, a digital, hybrid/blended learning school. She is a member of the Rolex Scholastic Honor Roll and National Honors Society.
Yu has five top-10 performances in AJGA competition this year, was third in the 2024 CGA Girls Championship and finished sixth in the North & South Junior Amateur. She won the 2019 U.S. Kids World Championship in Pinehurst, the 2021 PKB Masters in Greenville, S.C., and the 2022 AJGA Junior in Sanford. She also was runner-up in 2022 in the PKB Tournament of Champions, Scott Robertson Memorial and PKB Invitational in Bermuda Run.
Yu attends Strattenham Home Schools.
