Jackie Taylor Takes Home ACC Freshman Of The Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Jackie Taylor has been named ACC Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.

The honor comes after a career week for the Miami, Fla. native. She set a new career-high for kills against Virginia on Wednesday with 13. She played the role of closer, finishing with eight kills in the fourth set to seal the match for the Tar Heels.

In the regular season finale against Clemson, she posted 10 kills, again closing the opponent out with four kills in the final frame to guide the Tar Heels to a sweep.

On the week she posted six blocks and hit a staggering .571. She also had one assist.

This is the first weekly award that Taylor has won.

The Tar Heels now turn their attention to the NCAA Tournament. They will travel to Penn State to take on Yale on Friday at 5 P.M. in the first round. The winner of that match will face the winner of the Penn State/Delaware State match.
