Tar Heels Conclude Spring Scrimmages

Chapel Hill, NC -- The North Carolina Tar Heels concluded their Spring scrimmages with a 7 1/2-inning affair on Saturday on a beautiful day for baseball at a sun-drenched Boshamer Stadium.
Offensive highlights: Casey Cook, who was 2-3 with three RBI and two runs scored, had a double and a triple. Parks Harber was 2-3 with three RBI and one run scored. Harber drilled the only homer of the day, a 396-foot shot to right center. Reece Holbrook, who had a triple, was 2-2 with two runs scored. No other Tar Heels had mulitple base hits.
Johnny Castagnozzi had a triple, while Ryker Galaska and Gavin Gallaher both doubled for the other extra-base hits. A total of eleven runs were scored on a combined eighteen base hits. There was one error in the scrimmage.
Pitching highlights: Ben Peterson and Olin Johnson were the two starters. Cameron Padgett, Kyle Percival, Shea Sprague, Ryan Fischer, Will Simmons, Mason Yokum, Connor Bovair and Ryan Hench all threw in relief.
Peterson and Johnson both tossed 4.0 innings and each gave up two runs. Peterson struck out six of the eighteen batters he faced.Â
The Tar Heels will open the 2024 season this coming Friday when they play host to Wagner at 4:00 pm at Boshamer Stadium.
