Three Tar Heels Place In Top-10 At NCAA Regionals

MADISON, N.J. – Sophia Kovacs earned a second-place finish at the 2024 NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Regional on Saturday at Drew University, with three Tar Heels recording top-10 performances.
Kovacs placed highest of all Tar Heels, finishing second in saber, while Sophia Mandour earned ninth place in foil. On the men's side, Elden Wood placed fifth in saber.
Up next, the Tar Heels will await NCAA selections to be made by the NCAA Men's and Women's Fencing Committee on Tuesday, March 12.
The qualifying Tar Heels will travel to Columbus from March 21-24 for the 2024 NCAA Fencing Championship, hosted by Ohio State.
Kovacs and Eli Lippman represented Carolina at the 2023 NCAA Fencing Championship.
