Allen Inks Pro Contract With Bay FC, UNC’s Six Draftees Make It Official
March 14, 2024 | Women's Soccer
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – University of North Carolina women's soccer goalkeeper Emmie Allen has signed a professional contract with Bay Football Club, the organization announced ahead of the start of the 2024 NWSL season.
Allen joined Bay FC during its preseason training camp as a trialist. She is under contract for the 2024 season with an option for the 2025 campaign.
"The thing I love most about Emmie is that when she came in as a freshman, she trained like a professional," said head coach Anson Dorrance. "She already trains like a pro, works in the weight room like a pro, eats like a pro and gets sleep like a pro. She has been rehearsing for this opportunity her entire soccer life, and we are excited to see what she does in this next chapter of her career."
Additionally, North Carolina's six players chosen in the Draft have all formally signed contracts with their clubs. The Tar Heels in this year's draft class tied the NWSL record for most players selected in a Draft from a single school.

Allen will reunite with former UNC teammate Savy King in San Francisco for Bay FC's inaugural season. King, the No. 2 overall selection in the NWSL Draft, formally inked a three-year contract through the 2026 season with the club in February. The defender was the third-youngest draftee in NWSL history.
King and Ally Sentnor – the No. 1 overall selection – made history at the 2024 NWSL Draft back in January in Anaheim, California. They became the second Tar Heel duo to receive the first and second overall Draft picks in UNC history, joining Crystal Dunn (No. 1, Washington Spirit) and Kealia Ohai (No. 2, Houston Dash) in 2014.
The top pick by Utah Royals FC, Sentnor officially put pen to paper in February and signed a three-year contract through 2026. The forward joined current USWNT stars Dunn (2014, Washington Spirit) and Emily Fox (2021, Racing Louisville FC) as No. 1 overall selections in Carolina history.
Defender Maycee Bell accompanied King and Sentnor with a first-round pick as the 14th overall selection by NJ/NY Gotham FC. The club announced last month that Bell was signed to a guaranteed multiyear contract through 2026.
Carolina's three first-round draftees in Sentnor, King and Bell set a new NWSL record for most players selected by a single school in the Draft's 12-year history.
The 17th selection in the NWSL Draft by Seattle Reign FC, midfielder Sam Meza penned a contract with the club earlier in March. Her deal is through the upcoming 2024 season with a one-year option.
Also a second-round draftee taken with the 17 overall selection to Houston Dash was Avery Patterson. Yesterday, the forward committed to a three-year deal lasting until 2026.
Rounding out UNC's draftees was defender Julia Dorsey with the 40th selection in the third round to NC Courage. The Cary-based club made it official two days ago, inking Dorsey to a three-year deal through the 2026 campaign.
