Tar Heel Men Blank Eagles, 7-0

WEYMOUTH, MASS.— North Carolina was dominant from start to finish, blanking Boston College, 7-0, in men's tennis action at the Weymouth Club Tennis Center on Sunday morning.
The 26th-ranked Tar Heels (11-5, 5-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) claimed the doubles point and never looked back, winning for the fifth time in seven ACC dual matches this spring. Five of the six singles wins were straight-set affairs.
The Eagles dropped to 4-9, 0-6.
How It Happened
Doubles
• Benjamin Kittay and Phillip Jordan won their match at No. 1, 6-4, over Juan Jose Bianchi and Jake Vassel.
• Patrick Schoen and Peter Murphy clinched the point and the 1-0 UNC lead with a 7-5 win at No. 3 over Will Kasten and Matthew Overvelde.
• Will Jansen and Karl Poling's match at No. 2 against Caleb Saltz and Matt Campbell went unfinished with the Tar Heels holding a 6-5 advantage.
Singles
• Poling, ranked #82 individually in the latest ITA rankings, grabbed the first singles win of the afternoon for UNC, beating Saltz 6-0, 6-3 at No. 3.
• Will Peters made the score 3-0 Tar Heels with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Mai Gao at No. 5 singles.
• Freshman Patrick Schoen won the clincher at No. 4, dropping Kasten by a score of 6-4, 6-2.
• The Tar Heels closed out the afternoon with wins from Jordan (6-2, 6-4 over Vassel at No. 2), Anuj Watane (6-3, 6-3 over Overvelde at No. 6) and Benjamin Kittay (6-2, 6-7 [4], 1-0 [7] at No. 1).
Up Next
• After three consecutive ACC road matches, the Tar Heels will return home to host Notre Dame on Friday March 29 and Louisville on Sunday March 31.
