Baseball Opens Homestand With Gardner-Webb

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – North Carolina opens a 10-game homestand against Gardner-Webb at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23. The contest precedes a return to Atlantic Coast Conference play later this week with a three-game series against Virginia Tech beginning Friday.
Before the exam break, the homestand continues with midweek games against Charlotte (April 30) and William & Mary (May 1). The Tar Heels return to Boshamer Stadium on May 7 against Campbell and close out their home schedule in a three-game series against Louisville on Mother's Day weekend (May 10-12).
UNC (30-10) is coming off a 14-3 win over NC State on Saturday, and Gardner-Webb (15-24) enters Tuesday's game after a doubleheader sweep of Longwood on Saturday.
The Tar Heels are 23-1 at home this season, and the Runnin' Bulldogs are 3-11 on the road.
North Carolina has won four straight against Gardner-Webb and leads the all-time series 18-2.

Gardner-Webb is 15-24 overall and 5-10 in the Big South. The Runnin' Bulldogs snapped a three-game losing streak with a doubleheader sweep of Longwood on Saturday. They have a team slash line of .254/.360/.401 with 38 home runs and an average of 4.9 runs per game, accompanied by a team ERA of 6.40.

The Tar Heels belted 10 home runs in their three-game series with NC State over the weekend and are tied for the ACC lead with 76 dingers, ranking 11th nationally.
