Pro Heels: NWSL Week Five Roundup

The fifth week of the 2024 National Women's Soccer League season was highlighted by Maycee Bell making her regular season debut, as well as assists from Meghan Klingenberg and Ally Sentnor.
Bay FC

Bay FC suffered a 5-2 loss to Kansas City Current. Bailey and King both earned starts and logged 68 and 81 minutes, respectively. Bailey delivered a pass on a set piece which set up an assist in the 17th minute.
NJ/NY Gotham FC
» Maycee Bell (2019-23)
» Crystal Dunn (2010-13)
Gotham FC fell to Washington Spirit, 2-0. Bell made her regular season debut after subbing in during the 75th minute. Dunn entered the match in the 60th minute.
Houston Dash
» Paige Nielsen (2012-15)
» Avery Patterson (2020-23)
Houston Dash dropped a 4-1 decision to Portland Thorns. Patterson logged a full 90 minutes, plus eight minutes of stoppage time.
Also of note, the Dash acquired Nielsen from Angel City FC. The defender, who brings nearly a decade of professional experience to Houston, will join the club soon.
North Carolina Courage

NC Courage fell to Angel City FC, 2-1. Pinto subbed in during the 77th minute.
Portland Thorns

Portland Thorns posted a big 4-1 over Houston Dash. Klingenberg entered the match in the 96th minute and dished out an assist.
Seattle Reign FC

» Sam Meza (2020-23)
Seattle Reign fell to Chicago Red stars, 2-1. Dickey, who has typically been the starting keeper, was out with injury.
Utah Royals
» Ally Sentnor (2021-23)
Utah Royals dropped a 5-1 outcome to Racing Louisville. Sentnor once again played a full match and assisted the Royals' lone goal. Sentnor sent a through pass in the right half space to Olivia Griffiths who then netted her first pro goal right before halftime.
