Two Tar Heels have been named to the roster for the upcoming Junior Pan American Championship, set for July 2-12 in Canada. Rising junior Ryleigh Heck and rising senior Kelly Smith are among 18 athletes selected and announced by USA Field Hockey on Monday.

The event, to be held in Surrey, British Columbia, is a qualifier for the 2025 FIH Hockey Junior World Cup. The top three women's teams will earn Junior World Cup spots.

Heck is one of eight athletes who represented the U.S. at last year's JPAC as well as the 2024 Junior World Cup. Smith is among those headed for a first JPAC appearance.
