CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – UNC catcher Luke Stevenson has been named a Second Team Freshman All-America by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, the organization announced Monday.
Stevenson is the 11th Tar Heel to earn Freshman All-America accolades from the association and the first catcher to be named to a Freshman All-America team since Tim Federowicz was named First Team Freshman All-America by Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball in 2006.
An All-ACC Third Team and Freshman Team selection, Stevenson is hitting .283 with 14 home runs, 58 RBIs, a team-high 46 walks, and a .966 OPS. He has started 60 of 61 games behind the plate. The Wake Forest, N.C. native produced 14 multi-hit games, 13 multi-RBI games, and a pair of two-homer games.
Stevenson and the Tar Heels return to action Friday, June 14, against Virginia in the 2024 Men's College World Series opening game.
The membership of the NCBWA votes upon the Freshman All-America team. The 2024 NCBWA National Freshman Player of the Year and National Freshman Pitcher of the Year will be announced on Tuesday, June 11.
