
Honeycutt, Pence Receive D1 Baseball All-America Honors

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The UNC tandem of Vance Honeycutt and Dalton Pence received more postseason accolades Wednesday as D1 Baseball announced its 2024 All-America Teams, with Honeycutt earning first-team honors and Pence second-team.

Honeycutt, the ACC Defensive Player of the Year, was named to his fifth All-America team after receiving first-team honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and Perfect Game and second-team accolades from Baseball America and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).

He is the fifth player in program history to be named to five All-America teams, joining Michael Morin (2012), Colin Moran (2013), JB Bukauskas (2017) and Logan Warmoth (2017). Honeycutt received his third first-team honor.

A native of Salisbury, N.C., Honeycutt hit a career-best .318 while setting school records for home runs (28) and runs (88) in 2024. The junior centerfielder drove in a career-best 70 runs and collected a career-high 81 hits and 13 doubles.

He finished the season ranked third nationally in runs and seventh in home runs while leading the ACC in both categories. Honeycutt ranked third in the conference in stolen bases (28) and total bases (182) and sixth in RBIs and slugging percentage (.714).

Pence, who earned All-America honors from Baseball America (second-team) and Perfect Game (third-team), posted a 5-1 record with eight saves in an ACC-best 36 appearances, second-most among all Division I pitchers.
