Rinky Hijikata Earns Spot On Australian Olympic Team

Former Tar Heel All-America and rising ATP star Rinky Hijikata has earned a spot on the Australian Olympic Team headed to Paris in 2024. As one of four ranked Australian players on the ATP Tour, Hijikata will compete in singles, making his Olympic debut. He is currently ranked No. 75 in the world.

An All-America as a sophomore in 2021, Hijikata helped the Tar Heels win the 2021 ITA National Indoor Championship before turning professional that summer. He was among the nine tennis players chosen Wednesday for Australia's Olympic team.

The clay courts of Roland Garros will host the tennis events of the Paris 2024 Olympics from July 27 through August 4. It will be the first Olympics on clay since Barcelona in 1992.
