CBF Names Honeycutt And Pence All-America

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – UNC outfielder Vance Honeycutt was named First Team All-America by the College Baseball Foundation, earning his sixth All-America accolade this postseason, and relief pitcher Dalton Pence received Second Team All-America accolades for his fourth postseason recognition on Friday.

Honeycutt joins J.B. Bukauskas and Logan Warmoth as the only players in program history to be named to six All-America teams.

Honeycutt has also received first-team honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA), D1 Baseball and Perfect Game, along with second-team accolades from Baseball America and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).

A native of Salisbury, N.C., Honeycutt hit a career-best .318 while setting school records for home runs (28) and runs (88). He drove in a career-best 70 runs, collected 81 hits, 13 doubles and stole 28 bases. Honeycutt finished the season ranked third nationally in runs and seventh in home runs while leading the ACC in both categories.

Pence, who also earned All-America honors from D1 Baseball (second-team), Baseball America (third-team), and Perfect Game (third-team), posted a 5-1 record with eight saves and a 2.45 ERA. The left-hander struck out 74 batters in 58 1/3 innings with a 2.75 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
