CHAPEL HILL, N.C.— Constantinos Djakouris, the No. 1 singles player at UC Davis in 2024, is joining the University of North Carolina men's tennis program as a transfer. He has signed a scholarship agreement to join the Tar Heels for the 2024-25 season with two years of eligibility remaining.
"We're really excited to welcome Constantinos to the Tar Heel Tennis family," says UNC head coach Sam Paul. "What really impressed me about him during the recruiting process was his competitive spirit and drive to be the best. He has such a desire to be a complete player and has an excellent work ethic. He will be a great fit for our team on and off the court."
Djakouris, a native of Nicosia, Cyprus, boasts a UTR of 12.9. He went 22-9 in two seasons for UC Davis, playing primarily at No. 1 singles in 2024. Along the way, he earned two wins over UC Santa Barbara's Pablo Masjuan, who eventually advanced to the round of 16 of the NCAA Singles Championship. He was the 2023 Big West Freshman of the Year and a first-team All-Big West choice in both 2023 and '24.
