Honeycutt Named CSC Academic All-District
June 4, 2024 | Baseball, Academics
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – UNC junior Vance Honeycutt was named to the 2024 Academic All-District Baseball NCAA Division I team, selected by the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA).
The academic teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes baseball honorees in four divisions – NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA. Student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), and compete in 90 percent of the institution's games played.
The Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First, second, and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced on July 7.
A communication major, Honeycutt was named 2024 ACC Defensive Player of the Year and earned first-team all-conference honors. Earlier this season, he became the Tar Heels' career home run leader and the first player in NCAA Division I history with 60 career home runs and 70 career stolen bases.
He leads the ACC in runs scored (81) while ranking third in stolen bases (28) and home runs (24). Honeycutt is one home run shy of tying the school's single-season record, which he set in 2022.
