CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Entering year 14 under the direction of head coach Carlos Somoano, the North Carolina men's soccer program has released its schedule for the upcoming fall season.
The schedule features 16 regular-season contests with 10 matches played at Dorrance Field.
The 2024 slate includes four teams that finished in the top-25 of the final United Soccer Coaches poll last season, highlighted by a matchup with the defending national champion, Clemson. Including the Tigers, UNC's opponents feature eight NCAA tournament teams from a year ago.
Carolina's schedule includes home Atlantic Coast Conference matches against NC State (Sept. 20), California (Sept. 28), Pitt (Oct. 19) and Boston College (Nov. 1). The Tar Heels will hit the road against conference foes Duke (Sept. 13), Clemson (Oct. 4), Notre Dame (Oct. 11) and Stanford (Oct. 27).
The Tar Heels open the regular season on Aug. 22, traveling to UAB, wrapping up the weekend with the home opener against Cal Baptist (Aug. 25). The following weekend, the program will host the Carolina Nike Classic, welcoming FIU (Aug. 29) and ETSU (Sept. 2) to Chapel Hill.
Carolina will also face Mercer (Sept. 24) and Charleston (Oct. 8) at Dorrance Field, rounding out non-conference play on the road at William & Mary (Oct. 15).
Prior to the start of the regular season, UNC will host Campbell for its first preseason test on Aug. 10. The Tar Heels will then travel to UNCW on Aug. 16, for their final exhibition.
North Carolina produced an 11-4-7 (2-3-3 ACC) mark in 2023, advancing to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament for the 14th time in program history.
Season tickets for the 2024 campaign will go on sale Monday, July 15.
