Women’s Soccer To Host Two Preseason Exhibition Matches

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Fans will soon be able to get a first look at the 2024 North Carolina women's soccer team which is set to host two preseason exhibitions at Dorrance Field to kick off the new campaign, the first which will occur this Sunday.
The Tar Heels will host DC Power – a first-division professional team in the USL Super League – on Sunday, August 4, at 7 p.m. ET. UNC then welcomes Davidson to Chapel Hill on Saturday, August 10 at 2 p.m.
Both exhibition matches are free admission and open to the public.
Carolina officially opens the regular season on August 15 with a weekend trip to the Centennial State to play Denver (Aug. 15) and Colorado (Aug. 18). The team then returns to Dorrance Field for its home opener on August 22 against Georgia at 5 p.m.

Tar Heel fans will see several new faces this season as the team has welcomed 15 newcomers to its roster. The roster additions feature eight freshmen, five transfers and two newcomers. Twelve returners are back for another season in Carolina blue.
Carolina finished the 2023 season with a 13-2-8 overall mark, which included a 5-0-5 record in ACC play and saw a trip to the NCAA quarterfinals. Six players received All-ACC honors with four garnering All-Region praise and two earning All-America recognition.
Following the season, an NWSL-record six UNC players were selected in the 2024 NWSL Draft. Carolina had three first-round draftees – including the No. 1 and No. 2 overall picks – which set a new NWSL record for most players selected from a single school in the opening round.
