Heels Beat The Rain On Thursday

Chapel Hill, NC--Â The Tar Heels moved their scrimmage up by an hour on Thursday and were able to beat the rain as they conducted a 5 1/2 inning scrimmage that ended just before the rain began. The Navy squad took a 6-3 win over Blue, outhitting Blue by an 11-3 margin. There was one total error in the scrimmage.
Offensive highlights: Kane Kepley was the scrimmage's most productive hitter, going 3-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. Kepley drilled a 397-foot, two-run homer to right. Mitch Wilson was 2-2 with one RBI and two runs scored. Â Wilson had a double and a 367-foot homer to right center. Tyson Bass was 2-4 with one RBI and one run scored. Jackson Van De Brake, who had a double to right-center, was 2-2. Macaddin Dye was 2-2 with two runs scored.
Pitching highlights:Â Aidan Haugh, Boston Flannery, Jason DeCaro and Kyle Percival threw in the scrimmage. Flannery gave up one run in 4.0 innings by giving up two hits and striking out two while giving up no walks. DeCaro was limited to 27 pitches in his first action of the Fall.
Weather permitting, the Heels will next scrimmage on Saturday morning.
