Wright Advances In ITA All-American Consolation Draw

TULSA, OKLA.— Redshirt freshman Anthony Wright advanced to the main draw singles consolation round of 32 on Thursday at the ITA Men's All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla.
Wright defeated #72 Aristotelis Thanos of Michigan State, 4-1 (injury retired). He will play Baylor's Zsombor Velcz on Friday in the consolation draw. Consolation draw finalists earn entries into the NCAA individual championships in November.
The redshirt freshman from London, England, has made a splash in his first action as a Tar Heel after redshirting in 2023-24 at UNC. Wright's week began in the pre-qualifying draw before he moved on to the main draw as one of only two Atlantic Coast Conference players to do so.
ITA action will continue on Friday in Tulsa.
