Heels Hold First Scrimmage Of The Fall

Chapel Hill, NC --Â The North Carolina Tar Heels began the Team Practice part of Fall Ball with a 6 1/2 scrimmage on Friday afternoon at Boshamer Stadium as the Blue squad took a 7-2 win over Navy. Blue was up 2-1 going into the bottom of the fifth when they picked up four runs for 6-1 lead and held on to win 7-2. Blue outhit Navy 7-4 and each team had one error.
Offensive Highlights: Hunter Stokely was the only player with multiple base hits as he went 2-4 with one RBI. Perry Hargett, who had a two-run triple in the fourth, was 1-3 with three RBI and one run scored. Sawyer Black, who also tripled, was 1-2 with two runs scored. Mitch Wilson blasted the only home run of the game with a 376-foot shot to left center. Kane Kepley had two stolen bases.
Pitching Highlights: Aidan Haugh, Camron Seagraves and Mason Yokum pitched for Blue while Boston Flannery, Kyle Percival and Ryan Hench threw for Navy. Haugh gave up two hits in 2.1 scoreless innings while striking out four and walking none. 26 of his 39 pitches were strikes. Seagraves gave up one hit in 1.2 innings while fanning two and walking one. Yokum gave up one run in 2.0 innings while striking out two batters. Percival hurled two scoreless innings for Blue.
The Tar Heels will practice again on Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon.Â
