Tar Heels 5th With 18 To Play At Williams Cup
October 20, 2025 | Men's Golf
The Florida Gators shot 12-under-276 for the second consecutive day on Monday to take a commanding lead after two rounds in the Williams Cup presented by STITCH Golf, hosted by the University of North Carolina at Eagle Point Golf Club in Wilmington.
Led by Zack Swanwick, who is tied for the lead at 7 under par, and Parker Bell and Luke Poulter, who are tied for third at 5 under, the Gators are poised to become the first team other than the Tar Heels to win the Williams Cup, which is being played for the fifth straight season.
Florida and Texas were the only two teams in the field of 15 that broke par on a sunny but windy day. The Gators have shot 24-under-par 552 through 36 holes, on pace to break the 54-hole tournament record of 17 under, which Carolina posted in the tournament's inaugural season in 2021-22.
Texas was 1 under par today and is second overall at 5 under. Notre Dame, led by co-leader Nate Stevens, is third at 1 over, NC State is fourth at 6 over and UNC is fifth at plus 7.
Swanwick and Stevens share the top spot in the individual standings at 7-under 137. Stevens made a hole-in-one on the fifth hole en route to a 67, which tied Florida's Matthrew Kress for the low rounds of the day. Those were two of the 13 below-par rounds (out of 81) in the second round.
Swanwick and Stevens lead at 7 under, Bell, Poulter and Texas' Daniel Bennett are tied for third at 5 under and Carolina's Niall Sheils Donegan (68-72) is sixth at 4 under.
UNC's Carson Bertagnole (71-73) is tied for 15th at even-par 144 and Sihan Sandhu (74-71) is tied for 20th at 1-over 145.
NC State's Joey Lenane also made an ace on the second hole.
The third and final round tees off at 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday. Follow live scoring all day at Golfstat.com.
