Bruder Named ACC Offensive Player Of The Week
October 21, 2025 | Field Hockey
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – After a 10-point weekend on the road, Carolina field hockey junior forward Charly Bruder has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference's Offensive Player of the Week.
Â
The nation's leading scorer in 2024 is starting to find her form again with the postseason quickly approaching. Bruder racked up four goals and two assists in Carolina's weekend wins over No. 9 Syracuse and Cornell.
Â
In a dogfight down 3-1 at the half against the Orange on Friday night, Bruder came to the rescue for the Heels with her first hat trick on the season and an assist to boot to help UNC come all the way back to win 4-3. She scored inside the first two minutes to put Carolina up early, scored in the third quarter to cut the deficit, provided the assist that tied the game, and then found the net again with just 19 seconds remaining to bring home the victory.
Â
On Sunday, Bruder once again set the tone by scoring the opening goal, this time within the first minute. Her strike kick started an eight-goal barrage by the Tar Heels against the Big Red.
Â
Her run and shot drew out the Cornell goalkeeper to allow for an easy tap-in by Kara Heck for UNC's second on the day. She then added an official assist to Dani Mendez for the team's sixth.
Â
It is the fourth time the Malvern, Pa., native has earned weekly conference honors in her career. Bruder and her teammates return to action on Friday, Oct. 24 for a home matchup with Richmond. Â
