Blue Takes A 4-2 Win In Game I Of The Fall World Series

Chapel Hill, NC--Â The Blue squad jumped out to a 4-0 lead and held on to take a 4-2 victory over Navy in a seven-inning Game I of the Fall World Series on Monday afternoon at Boshamer Stadium
Gavin Gallaher gave Blue an early 2-0 lead with his 382-foot, two-run home run to right center in the bottom of the first. Colin Hynek made it 3-0 Blue with an RBI-single to left in the third. Tyler Howe capped off Blue's scoring with a towering 407-foot homer to right center in the fifth. The Navy squad scored their two runs in the sixth when a run scored on a fielder's choice and another scored on a double steal.
Blue had four base hits to three for Navy. No players had multiple base hits, and the two home runs were the only extra-base hits.
Walker McDuffie threw 4.0 scoreless, hitless innings while striking out three and walking three for Blue. Jackson Rose, Talan Holiday and Jake Cackovic each tossed a scoreless inning for Blue.
Perry Hargett had two outstanding catches in center. One was a running, back-handed catch deep in left-center, while the other was a leaping catch against the wall in center.
The two teams will face off again at 2:00 pm on Tuesday. Admission is free and open to the public.
