Baseball Releases 2026 Schedule
November 25, 2025 | Baseball
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The reigning ACC tournament champion North Carolina baseball team has released its 2026 schedule, highlighted by at least 37 games at Boshamer Stadium.
The Tar Heels, coming off hosting NCAA Regionals and Super Regionals for the third time in the last four years, have scheduled 56 regular season contests against 28 different opponents. Carolina holds a 1308-775-10 all-time record against their schedule opposition.
Head coach Scott Forbes has once again put together one of the most difficult schedules in the country. 17 teams that Carolina will face finished the 2025 season inside the top 100 of the RPI, with 12 of those falling in the top-75. Seven of the Heels' 2026 opponents made the NCAA postseason with three advancing to supers and two on to the CWS.
Diamond Heels fans will have more chances to see their team play than ever before. Forty-eight of the team's 56 games will be played within the Tar Heel state, not including the ACC Tournament, which will once again be held at Truist Field in Charlotte. More than 78% of the team's games will take place within the Research Triangle.
Carolina kicks off the season on Feb. 13 with a marquee non-conference series, a showdown against Indiana. It will be the program's first time ever facing off against the Hoosiers, who finished fifth in the Big Ten last season.
The following weekend will see the Heels take on East Carolina in their annual three-game, three-city weekend series. The opener will be in Grenville on Friday, Feb. 20, the Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Saturday and the finale at Boshamer Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The final non-conference series comes against the Le Moyne Dolphins from up in Syracuse, N.Y., who joined the Division I ranks in 2024. The midweek matinees at the Bosh will feature games against Richmond (2/17), Longwood (2/18), NC A&T (2/24), VCU (2/25), Elon (3/03), Bucknell (3/10), UNCG (3/18), Campbell (3/31), Charlotte (4/07), UNCW (4/14), High Point (4/21), Coastal Carolina (4/28), Queens (4/29) and Winthrop (5/06).
A chance to get familiar with the dimensions at Truist Field presents itself with the regularly scheduled showdown with South Carolina on Mar. 24. The traditional home-and-home with UNCW will see the Heels head to the beach on May 12.
Then comes conference play, which presents an exciting slate as always in the loaded ACC. UNC will open by hosting Virginia (Mar. 6-8) before home weekends against Louisville (Mar. 20-22), Boston College (April 2-4), Georgia Tech (April 17-19) and Pitt (May 8-10).
Forbes' teams are a combined 30-19 in ACC contests over the last two seasons. A mark that was good enough to win the regular season title in 2024 and come within one game of a repeat in 2025.
ACC away weekends begin with a trip out west to Cal (Mar. 13-15). It will be the first game Carolina has played west of the central time zone since taking a series win at UCLA to open the 2016 season.
Carolina will also travel to face Notre Dame (Mar. 27-29) and Clemson (April 10-12) before rivalry matchups with Duke (April 24-26) and NC State (May 14-16). As if they couldn't get enough of each other, the Heels and Blue Devils also added a non-conference one-off at the Bosh on May 3.
The 2026 postseason will begin with a title defense for the Tar Heels in the ACC Championship in Charlotte May 19-24. NCAA regional weekends will follow May 29-31 with supers the following week June 5-7.
Carolina has made the NCAA tournament in eight straight seasons, the longest active streak in the ACC. They've hosted a regional 13 times since 2006, tied for the most in the country.
