Six Heels Earn NFHCA All-South Region Honors
December 3, 2025 | Field Hockey
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Carolina field hockey placed six of its players in the 2025 NFHCA All-South Region squad, the coaches association announced on Wednesday morning.
Charly Bruder, Sietske Brüning, Ryleigh Heck, and Dani Mendez led the way on the first team with Isabel Boere and Sanne Hak slotting in to the second team. The group was instrumental in pushing the Tar Heels to their record 28th Atlantic Coast Conference title and a 29th trip to the final four.
UNC's four were the most of any program on the 16-member first-team and each of them are now eligible for All-America consideration to be revealed in two weeks. The awards were voted upon by the region's NFHCA member coaches.
Brüning and Heck will finish their illustrious college hockey careers having been All-Region selection all four years. Bruder is on track to do the same as she and Hak earn their third appearances.
It is also the third time appearing in the All-South Region first team for Mendez, having done so twice while she was playing for Virginia. Boere is one of just three true freshmen to earn South Region recognition and the first Tar Heel defender to do so since Ashley Hoffman in 2015.
