CHAPEL HILL
UNC Scoring Leader: Caleb Wilson 20
UNC Rebound Leader: Henri Veesaar 15 (career high)
UNC Assist Leader: Kyan Evans 4
Team Records: Carolina 8-1, Georgetown 6-3
• It was the fourth time this season and the second game in a row Caleb Wilson (20 points and 14 rebounds) and Henri Veesaar (18 points and 15 rebounds) both had double-doubles.
• It was the first time two Tar Heels scored 18 or more points and had 14 or more rebounds since Sean May and Marvin Williams against Iowa State in 2005 NCAA Tournament second round in Charlotte. May (24/17) and Williams (20/15) were the first Tar Heels to accomplish that since 1958.
• This is the fifth time ever two Tar Heels scored 18 or more points and had 14 or more rebounds in a game: Wilson and Veesaar, May and Williams, Lee Shaffer and Pete Brennan in 1958, Brennan and Joe Quigg in 1957 and Quigg and Lennie Rosenbluth in 1957.
• This was the first time two Tar Heels had at least 14 rebounds since Brice Johnson (21) and Kennedy Meeks (14) at Duke in 2016. This was only the second time since 1972 two Tar Heels had 14 or more rebounds in the same game.
• Carolina held Georgetown to 61 points, the fewest by the Hoyas this season.
• Carolina allowed 22 paint points and 10 fastbreak points in the first half and 10 paint points and zero fastbreak points in the second half.
• The Tar Heels held the Hoyas to a season-low 33.3% from the floor for the game (previous low by the Hoyas was 35.6% vs. Miami).
• Georgetown shot 22.2% from the floor in the second half, the second-lowest percentage by a Tar Heel opponent in a second half this season (20.6% by NC Central).
• The Hoyas scored 22 points in the second half, the fewest in any half by an opponent this season (23 in first half by Central Arkansas...the previous low in a second half by an opponent was 29 by NC Central).
• This was Wilson's sixth double-double and third with at least 20 points and 10 boards.
• This was Veesaar's fifth double-double, all this season.
• Veesaar set a career high with 15 rebounds, the fourth time in nine games as a Tar Heel he has established a career high.
• Veesaar grabbed his 300th career rebound (311) and tied his career best with two 3FGs.
• Wilson tied his season high with 14 rebounds. He has 12 or more in all six of his double-doubles.
• Veesaar and Wilson have scored in double digits in all nine games.
• Veesaar's 15 rebounds are the most ever by a Tar Heel vs. Georgetown (13 by James Worthy in 1982 NCAA final).
• Kyan Evans scored his 500th career point (505).
• Freshman Derek Dixon scored a season-high 14 points, his first game in double figures. His previous high was nine twice, including the previous game at Kentucky on Tuesday.
• Dixon tied his season high with three 3FGs (also vs. NC Central). He is 12 for 25 from three this season.
• Luka Bogavac (14) scored in double figures for the seventh game in a row. He has made a three point field goal in every game.
• Georgetown, which came into the game third in the country in turnover percentage, tied the all-time Smith Center record by committing only four turnovers. This was the fourth time a team committed four: Virginia vs. UNC on 2/25/2023, Wisconsin vs. UNC on 11/30/2011 and Rhode Island vs. Syracuse in the NCAA Tournament on 3/19/1988.
• The Hoyas' four turnovers equal Virginia and Wisconsin for fewest by an opponent in a UNC win in the Smith Center.
• UNC's 44 first-half points were its most since scoring 44 against Radford on November 11.
• UNC is 5-5 all-time against Georgetown.
• This was UNC's first win over the Hoyas since 11/23/1999 in Maui.
• The Tar Heels are 59-9 under Hubert Davis at home.
• Carolina is 6-0 this season and 65-9 under Davis when it scores 80 or more points.
• The Tar Heels have won 16 in a row when they score 80 or more.
• This was the 11th straight time UNC won when holding its opponent below 70 points.
• This was Carolina's 495th win in the Smith Center (495-90).
• The Tar Heels are 238-19 against non-conference opponents in the Smith Center.
