Hitting Dominates Saturday's Scrimmage

Chapel Hill, NC--Â Â The Blue squad scored in each of the first six innings as they rolled to a 9-3 win over Navy in a seven 1/2 inning scrimmage on Saturday afternoon at Boshamer Stadium. Blue outhit Navy by a whopping 12-4 margin.
Offensive Highlights: Four players had multiple base hits. Kane Kepley was 2-4 with a pair of doubles and also scored two runs. Tyson Bass was 2-3 with one RBI and two runs scored. Boaz Harper was 2-2 with one RBI, while Parker McCoy was 2-3 with two runs scored.
Rom Kellis, who drilled a 396-foot homer to right center, was 1-4 with four RBI. Mitch Wilson had a 378-foot homer to left center. Carter French, Sawyer Black and Lee Sowers each had a double.
Pitching Highlights:Â Walker McDuffie, Boston Flannery, Will Simmons and Francesco Capocci threw for Blue, while Tom Chmielewski, Aidan Haugh, and Dylan Weber pitched for Navy.
McDuffie, who started for Blue, gave up one run on one hit in 3.1 innings while striking out three. Flannery gave up one run in 2.0 innings, striking out two. Simmons tossed a scoreless inning.
Defensive Highlights:Â Boaz Harper made the defensive play of the day. While playing second, with the speedy, left-handed hitting Alex Madera at bat, Harper ranged to his right to make a nice, back-handed grab, then spun in midair to throw a dart to first to nip Madera.
The Tar Heels will next scrimmage on Sunday afternoon.
