Walker-Welch Tabbed Nike Lacrosse Preseason All-America

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. North Carolina women's lacrosse standout Brooklyn Walker-Welch, one of the best defenders in the country, has been named to the Nike Lacrosse Preseason Women's Division I Media All-America First Team. The honors were announced by ILWomen ahead of the 2025 season.
A redshirt-junior, Walker-Welch makes her return to the field after missing the entirety of the 2024 season due to injury. The Courtice, Ontario native garnered ILWomen First Team All-America, All-South Region First Team and All-ACC First Team accolades as a sophomore in 2023.
Two years ago, she anchored Carolina's defense which limited opponents to an ACC-leading 8.4 goals per game while recording 29 ground balls and 18 caused turnovers. She started all 22 games as a freshman 2022, registering 18 ground balls and 19 caused turnovers en route to UNC's undefeated national championship season.
Walker-Welch was also named to the USA Lacrosse Preseason All-America First Team and checked in at No. 4 in ILWomen's Top 50 Players for 2025 rankings. She is serving as team captain for the second year in a row.
The Tar Heels embark on their 2025 campaign on Friday, Feb. 7, against James Madison at 5 p.m. ET at Dorrance Field. The complete schedule can be found here.
