David Ford Tied For 2nd, UNC 4th In Augusta

David Ford shot rounds of 69 and 66 to lead the University of North Carolina over the first 36 holes in the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational Saturday at the Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Ga.
The Tar Heels are fourth at 8-under 568 after consecutive rounds of 4-under 294. Carolina is the defending champion.
Illinois leads at 11 under par, Oklahoma State is second a stroke back, Texas is third at 9 under and the Tar Heels are next at 8 under.
Ford shot 3 under in the opening round and 6 under in the afternoon. He was tied for the lead at 10 under through 34 holes before he made his first bogey of the second round on his next-to-last hole. That snapped a 24-hole streak during which Ford made nine birdies and 15 pars.
Ford, the No. 1-ranked player in both the NCAA's Scoreboard/Clippd ranking and PGA TOUR University standings, has shot in the 60s in each of his last five rounds, 11 of his last 13 rounds and 19 times this season.
Ford is tied for second at 9-under 135, one shot behind Oklahoma State's Preston Stout, who shot 66-68, and even with Illinois' Max Herendeen.
Tar Heel freshman Ethan Paschal shot 3-under 69 in round one and Keaton Vo carded a 4-under 68 in the second.
Freshman Sihan Sandhu (71-70), playing as an individual entry, is tied with Vo (73-68) for seventh place at 3-under 141.
Paschal (69-76) is tied for 24th at 1-oover 145.
