May 20, 2025 | Softball
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Kat Rodriguez earned Softball America First Team All-America Honors, Softball America announced this morning.
Â
It was a historic year in Carolina blue for Rodriguez who seemingly rewrote the record book herself. The Pembroke Pines, Fla. native became the first player to win ACC Player of the Week honors four times in a single season. She shattered the single season program record with 83 RBI. The mark led the country at the end of the regular season and tied the ACC single season record. She tacked on 57 runs which is second most in program history, only one behind Alex Coleman who set the record this season. Her batting average of .435 was the fourth best in program history and her 77 hits was sixth most. She racked up 119 total bases which is ninth most in program history.
Â
She ranked in the top 10 in the ACC in RBI, batting average, doubles, hits, on base percentage, sacrifice flies, and total bases.
Â
Rodriguez is the first Tar Heel to earn All-America honors since previous single-season RBI record holder Kendra Lynch in 2017. She is the 11th individual to earn the title. She's the first first-team selection since Kristen Brown in 2016.
