Knapp Named National Pitcher Of The Year Finalist

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – North Carolina baseball's ace Jake Knapp has been selected as one of five finalists for the College Baseball Foundation's National Pitcher of the Year award, the organization announced on Wednesday afternoon.

The owner of the nation's best record at 13-0 is the first Tar Heel since 2017 to be named a finalist and would be the first to win the award that was commissioned in 2009. Leading Carolina to wins in all 15 of his appearances this season, Knapp currently owns the third best ERA in the country (1.98) and the second best WHIP (0.83).

The ACC Pitcher of the Year has been brilliant in his comeback season Tommy John surgery took away his 2024 campaign. The two-time captain for Carolina boasts two complete games, two combined shutouts, and has eclipsed the 100 pitch mark in 10 of his last 12 starts.

He has recorded 85 strikeouts and just 16 walks in his 95.1 innings pitched. Down the stretch of the season, he went a full month without allowing a walk spanning four appearances and 27 IP.

The 2025 award winner will be announced on Friday, June 13. The National Pitcher of the Year Award was first awarded in 2009.
