August 19, 2025 | Field Hockey
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A trio of Tar Heels earned Preseason All-ACC honors with their team being voted atop the Atlantic Coast Conference in the annual coaches poll on Tuesday afternoon.
Charly Bruder, Sietske Brüning, and Ryleigh Heck were named to the 15-player squad as the conference prepares for the 2025 season. It is the third year in a row making the pre-season list for Brüning and Heck while Bruder makes her first appearance after leading the nation in goals last year.
Head coach Erin Matson's squad received six first-place votes to put the active eight-time reigning ACC Champions in first, just ahead of Duke who garnered two first-place votes of their own. Virigina sat one overall point behind them while Boston College, who also earned a first-place nod, came in fourth.
The 2025 season for the Tar Heels kicks off with the annual ACC-Big Ten Challenge, this year held in Iowa City, on Friday, August 29 against Michigan at 1 p.m. ET.
