PRINCETON, N.J. – Carolina field hockey racked up six goals off the sticks of five different players to roll to a 6-2 victory over Penn on Friday afternoon at Bedford Field.

The Tar Heels (3-0) jumped out in front early and never looked back, netting the game's first four goals to improve to 9-0 all-time against the Quakers. Two second half scores in quick succession from Penn were answered immediately by Carolina with a pair of their own to finish off the contest comfortably.

Exciting storylines were associated with each and every goal for UNC on the day. The red-hot Dani Mendez opened the scoring in the fifth minute. The transfer midfielder has wasted no time in making an impact in Carolina blue, logging three goals and four assists in just three games so far.

Her partner-in-crime Ryleigh Heck added another just two minutes later. Heck has scored in each of the Heels' contests thus far on the year.

A pair of Carolina's star true freshmen secured their first collegiate goals on the day, as defender Isabel Boere and forward Reese Anetsberger both found the back of the net. Boere swiped hers home straight off a penalty corner in the third before Anetsberger put one away in the fourth off an assist from Kara Heck.

The final flourish came in the form of Charly Bruder, who missed the opening weekend of the season due to injury. Last season's NCAA goals leader got right back to her dominant self with a pair of goals. It's her 12^th career multi-goal game and moves her up to 44 total in just 43 appearances.
