CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The University of North Carolina women's lacrosse program will be well represented at the Nissin Foods 2026 World Lacrosse Women's Championship in Tokyo this summer. In total, six Tar Heels will wear the Red, White and Blue as the U.S. shoots for its 10th World Championship in field lacrosse. U.S. veterans Ally Mastroianni, Marie McCool and Caylee Waters will be joined by current Tar Heels Sam Forrest, Chloe Humphrey and Eliza Osburn when the U.S. takes the field this summer.
McCool, who also won World Championships in 2017 and '22, is aiming to become just the eighth player in U.S. women's senior field team history to win three gold medals. Mastroianni and Waters were also members of the 2022 World Championship team and will be seeking their second gold medals. Both Forrest and Humphrey were part of the U.S. team that won gold at the Pan-American Women's Lacrosse Championship last summer with Humphrey earning a spot on the all-tournament team. Osburn will make her debut appearance with the senior women's national team.
The six Tar Heels are part of a 22-woman roster that came from a pool of 58 players evaluated over the last two years at various training camps and competitions. The group will start their journey in Tokyo on July 24 with the tournament wrapping up on Aug. 2.
