CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – University of North Carolina women's lacrosse phenom Chloe Humphrey has added another honor to her resume with USA Lacrosse naming her Preseason Player of the Year headed into the 2026 season. The reigning Honda Sports Award for Lacrosse and Tewaaraton Award winner, Humphrey was tabbed Preseason Attacker of the Year and first-team All-America earlier this week.
A Darien, Conn. native, Humphrey put together a season for the ages as a redshirt freshman in 2025. Her 90 goals set the NCAA freshman record and the UNC single-season record, while her 118 points overall ranked fifth nationally and second on UNC's single-season list. In addition to the previously mentioned awards, Humphrey claimed IWLCA Player and Attacker of the Year, first-team All-America and was named the NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player and ACC Tournament MVP.
Humphrey parlayed her collegiate season into a successful international summer. She helped Team USA win gold at the Pan-American Championships and The World Games and claimed MVP honors at the Atlas Cup. Most recently, she was named to the U.S. World Championship roster for the summer of '26.
Humphrey and the Heels open their season on Saturday, Feb. 7 at James Madison. They'll play on the road at Syracuse on Feb. 13 before playing the home opener versus Ohio St. on Friday, Feb. 20 at 1:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased HERE.
