Women’s Tennis Cruises Past Elon, 7-0

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – University of North Carolina women's tennis opened its four-match homestand with a 7-0 victory over Elon Tuesday evening at Chewning Tennis Center. The Tar Heels swept doubles before picking up four singles wins.
Doubles action featured new pairings for Carolina. Tatum Evans and Oby Kajuru competed on court one taking a 6-3 win over their opponents from Elon. Reese Brantmeier and Mary Grace Rennard clinched the doubles point for the Tar Heels with a 6-4 victory.
No. 1 Reese Brantmeier and no. 21 Tatum Evans continued to roll past the Phoenix with straight set wins in singles. Their dominant wins put the Tar Heels ahead 3-0.
The rest of Carolina's singles matches would go the distance to finish in three sets. On court two, no. 7 Oby Kajuru won her first set in dominant fashion before dropping the second to force a deciding third set. The graduate went on to win the third, 6-2, clinching the match for the Tar Heels. UNC took a 4-0 lead with three matches left to play out.
Claire Hill fell in a tight first set before storming back to win her singles match in three sets. Similarly, no. 90 Theadora Rabman was down early after dropping the first set in a tiebreaker. Rabman went on to take the second and third sets to secure the 7-0 sweep for Carolina.
