Women’s Tennis Sweeps Syracuse

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – No. 3 University of North Carolina women's tennis opened ACC play Friday afternoon against Syracuse at Chewning Tennis Center. The Tar Heels downed the Orange, 4-0.
Carolina got the day started in doubles where Reese Brantmeier and Theadora Rabman cruised to a 6-3 victory on court two. Oby Kajuru and Tatum Evans later clinched the doubles point for the Tar Heels after defeating no. 20 Nelly Knezkova/Anastasia Sysoeva from Syracuse.
No. 6 Oby Kajuru earned a straight-sets victory to open singles play for UNC. The Tar Heels continued the momentum with two more wins to secure the sweep over Syracuse. No. 1 Reese Brantmeier topped Serafima Shastova from the Orange and no. 17 Tatum Evans clinched the match for Carolina with another straight-set win.
With Friday's win, UNC improves to 8-0 at home this season. The Tar Heels are set to continue league action as they welcome Boston College to Chewning Tennis Center on Sunday at 1 p.m.
