Alvarez & Munson To Play With U-20 Women’s National Team

ATLANTA, Ga. – In preparation for the 2026 FIFA U-20 World Cup, head coach Vicky Jepsen has selected 20 players for a training camp in Spain June 1-9. The roster is highlighted by Aven Alvarez and Hope Munson from Carolina women's soccer.
Along with training, the national team will play a pair of matches against fellow World Cup competitor, France. The matches will take place on June 5 and 8.
Alvarez and Munson have been mainstays on the U-20 WNT this year. The duo previously competed with the squad in a pair of matches against Brazil. The team went 1-0-1 against Brazil. Munson also trained with the national team in early March at a training camp held in California.
The Tar Heels will also reunite with former Carolina standout, Linda Ullmark at the training camp.
The upcoming training camp follows the recent release of the U-20 World Cup group play draw for the U.S. The USWNT will open the tournament against Italy and later face Japan and New Zealand. The World Cup matches in Poland will take place at Stadion Miejski LKS Lodz in Lodz and its Arena Sosnowiec in Sosnowiec.
