Gallaher Wins ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Award

OMAHA, Neb. – North Carolina second baseman Gavin Gallaher has been named to the ABCA/Rawlings NCAA DI Gold Glove team, the group announced on Wednesday morning.

The Carolina captain joins outfielder Vance Honeycutt in 2024 as the only two Tar Heels to win the prestigious award. The ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams were first recognized in 2007 and are presented annually to the top defensive players from each division of collegiate and high school baseball.

Gallaher moved to second in 2026 after spending his first two seasons in college at third base. He excelled in his new position, finishing first among all non-catchers in the nation in defensive runs saved at 20.26.

On the year, he recorded a .984 fielding percentage on 319 chances with only five errors. He helped the team convert 63 double plays, the most of any team in the nation.
