Softball Adds Rutgers Transfer Riley Hwang

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Carolina softball head coach Megan Smith Lyon announced the signing of infielder transfer Riley Hwang.

Hwang comes to Chapel Hill after two seasons with Rutgers in the Big Ten. She joins the Tar Heels as a career .318 hitter across 105 games played and 76 starts. Hwang has nine home runs and 42 RBI while playing shortstop.

She is fresh off the best season of her career, hitting .346 with eight home runs, 36 RBI, and a .445 on-base percentage. She added 11 doubles and seven stolen bases.

Hwang joins a Carolina offense that re-wrote the record book in 2026, setting the program record with 100 home runs and scoring 407 runs.
