Softball Adds Houston Transfer Ariel Redmond

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Carolina Softball head coach Megan Smith Lyon announced the addition of Houston outfield transfer Ariel Redmond on Monday afternoon.

Redmond comes to Chapel Hill after two seasons at Houston where she started 91 games and appeared in 97. She started all 54 games last season, hitting .292 with 36 runs, 20 RBI, and nine home runs. She led the team in at bats (157), finished second in runs (36), walks (25) and stolen bases (5) as well as third in home runs (9), total bases (78) and putouts (106), fourth in hits (46), RBIs (20) and slugging percentage (.497) while ranking fifth in doubles (5).

In her career she is a .271 hitter with a .379 on-base percentage with 58 runs, 33 RBI, and 12 homers. As a freshman she made 32 starts in right field, three in left, and two in center. Last year 42 of her starts where in left and nine were in center field.
