July 14, 2026 | Volleyball
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Entering year four under the direction of head coach Mike Schall, the North Carolina volleyball program has announced their schedule for the upcoming 2026 campaign.
Â
The Tar Heels, fresh off back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances, will play 13 matches inside Carmichael Arena, 13 road matchups, and two neutral-site affairs.
Â
Carolina's upcoming slate features eight NCAA Tournament programs from a season ago, including national runner-up Kentucky, national semifinalist Pitt, and 2025's top overall seed Nebraska.
Â
The Tar Heels will open the season on the road at Davidson (Aug. 29), followed by three-straight home matches versus UNCW (Aug. 30), and back-to-back days hosting James Madison (Sept. 3) and Colorado State (Sept. 4).
Â
On Sept. 9, Carolina travels to last season's national runner-up Kentucky, kickstarting six consecutive matches away from Chapel Hill. After their road date in Lexington, the Tar Heels will meet Vanderbilt in New York City, followed by a road trip to Lincoln, Neb. to face Nebraska and FGCU, concluding the non-conference schedule.
Â
UNC will open the Atlantic Coast Conference portion of the campaign with two-straight road matches against in-state foes, at NC State (Sept. 25) and Wake Forest (Sept. 27). Carolina returns to Chapel Hill for the first time in nearly a month, welcoming Clemson (Oct. 2) and Georgia Tech (Oct. 4) for their first two home ACC matchups.
Â
The ensuing weekend the Tar Heels begin a four-match road swing, beginning at Virginia Tech (Oct. 9) and Virginia (Oct. 11), followed by Notre Dame (Oct. 16) and Louisville (Oct. 18). UNC closes October with three consecutive home matches against California (Oct. 23), Stanford (Oct. 25) and Syracuse (Oct. 30), opening the month of November against Boston College (Nov. 1) at home.
Â
A week later, UNC will travel to SMU (Nov. 6) and Pitt (Nov. 8), followed by a home-and-home against Duke. The Tar Heels will face the Blue Devils in Durham on Nov. 12 and in Chapel Hill on Nov. 15.
Â
The home match against Duke kickstarts a four-match homestand in the final month of the regular season, also hosting Miami (Nov. 20), Florida State (Nov. 22) and a second meeting against Louisville (Nov. 25). Carolina will travel south to Miami for the regular season finale on Nov. 27.
Â
In 2026, Carolina is looking to make the NCAA Tournament for the third-straight season for the first time since 2010-16, a stretch in which UNC made the tournament seven consecutive times.Â
