2017 (Sophomore): Named Presason All-ACC and one of 12 candidates for National Preseason Player of the Year by PrepVolleyball.com, but suffered a concussion that sidelined her for the majority of the season • Appeared in the first two matches of the year, where she tallied 11 kills, five digs, an assist and a service ace in three-set losses to No. 4 Minnesota and No. 7 Wisconsin at the ACC/Big Ten Challenge • Requested a medical hardship waiver to redshirt the season.
2016 (Freshman): Posted one of the best rookie seasons in school history, earning ACC and AVCA East Coast Region Freshman of the Year, AVCA All-America Honorable Mention, All-Region, All-ACC First Team and ACC All-Freshman honors • Earned four ACC weekly awards, winning the first two ACC Freshman of the Week awards then becoming the second Tar Heel ever to garner back-to-back ACC Player of the Week awards in October • Appeared in 26 matches (100 sets), making 25 starts • Missed four matches in October due to a concussion • Hit .276 with 305 kills, 259 digs, 54 blocks, a team-high 32 aces and 18 assists • Ranked sixth in the ACC in aces per set • Finished in the top five all time among UNC freshmen in kills, kills per set, attempts, hitting percentage and aces per set, while finishing seventh in digs and digs per set and 10th in total aces • Recorded double-digit kills in 18 matches, double-digit digs 12 times and 10 double-doubles • Registered the first kills-digs 20-20 in five years at Notre Dame, tallying 23 kills and 21 digs in the win over the Fighting Irish • Notched 11 multi-ace matches and seven with three-or-more • Had the highest reception percentage of all primary passers on the team (.969) • Influential in Carolina's marquee victory over No. 2 Wisconsin, posting 18 kills and 15 digs • Put on a display in the ACC opener against NC State (9/22), hitting .386 with 14 kills, 10 digs and a season-high seven blocks • Hit a season-high .481 with 16 kills at Clemson to earn her first of two consecutive ACC Player of the Week awards • Graduated from high school early and joined the Tar Heels in January of 2016.
International: Named to the 2017 U.S. Collegiate National Team that trained and competed in Minneapolis in June 2017 in conjunction with the USA Volleyball Girls' Junior National Championship • Made the USA Volleyball A1 Junior National Training Team in the summer of 2015.

Personal: Born Julia Theresa Scoles on June 14, 1997 • Daughter of Ginny and Mike Scoles • Has an older brother, Cooper • Mother, Ginny, played field hockey and ice hockey for Potsdam College (1980-84) • Participates in the Richard A. Baddour Carolina Leadership Academy as a CREED Mentor • A three-sport athlete in high school, she was a 1,000-point scorer in basketball and a two-time State Champion in the High Jump and Long Jump • Received her MYP diploma in the International Baccalaureate program at South Iredell • AAA Scholar-Athlete Award for both volleyball and basketball in 2012-13 • Majoring in media and journalism with a concentration in advertising.
