MODEL CASES MAY HELP MEMBERS ANSWER QUESTIONS ABOUT THEIR SITUATIONS
EACH MEMBER WITH SEASON TICKETS IS AFFECTED IN SOME WAY by this new plan. The intent of the Kenan Stadium Equity Seating Plan is to treat all Rams Club members with fairness by basing assignments on their priority membership points. The plan utilizes the existing Priority Point System and the same corresponding giving level/ticket rights that have been in place for many years- offering some familiarity to members on how priority choices will be determined.
Each donor's case will be unique, however. Below are case examples that may address situations members may encounter.
EXAMPLE 1 ... Bobby is a Big Ram donor ranked #440. He currently has four seats in the main bowl and a parking pass. Bobby will receive an appointment slot that allows him to choose in the 440th position. At his appointment time, Bobby will choose his four seats from available seats, and will choose his parking assignment at the same time.
EXAMPLE 2 ... Bobby from Example 1 estimates that he will not get the seats he desires, but thinks he could get the seats he wants if he had 30 more points (thus possibly improving his rank). Bobby can make a gift of $3,000 by the priority point deadline. He could also make a gift to a fund that has bonus points (e.g., the New Kenan project with a 40% bonus on gifts at press time, requiring a gift of only $2,143) to get his 30 new points. His gift does not guarantee his rank or seats, but will likely improve his standing.
EXAMPLE 3 ... Jack is a Rameses donor who has bought two seats in the past, but wants four seats in 2011. Similar to the old policy, Jack has to be a Big Ram donor to order four seats together in this plan. Jack will need to increase his giving level to Big Ram by the priority point deadline of April 15, 2011. If he does not and remains a Rameses level donor, he will have the chance to choose two of his seats "on priority" in Priority Group A, and his two other seats will be assigned in the "Surplus" tickets group (thereby having two pairs in separate locations).
EXAMPLE 4 ... Barry is a new donor who wants two seats in Kenan Stadium, and joins at the Rameses level. He wants to know where they might be located. He will be able to choose seats in line with other members with 8 points (5 points for his $500 gift and 3 points for a year of membership) in Priority Group A. The location cannot be predicted until other, higher-ranked selections have occurred.
EXAMPLE 5 ... Lu is an endowed scholarship donor who currently has 8 seats in the Pope Box and 8 seats in the main bowl. The new plan allows scholarship donors to have 12 tickets "on priority". Will Lu have to give up four of the16 seats? No. Lu's seats in the Pope Box are considered seats "under agreement," and do not apply to the rights to purchase 12 seats on priority. Lu will choose the location of the 8 seats in the main bowl based upon membership rank within Priority Group A.
EXAMPLE 6 ... Bert has four seats in the Pope Box. Will his seats within the Pope Box be reassigned within the Pope Box? No. The Pope Box seats are "under agreement", and are not subject to reassignment.
EXAMPLE 7 ... Cheryl is ranked #876. Her friends with whom she currently has neighboring seats are ranked #1024 and #1490. They want to choose their seats together, and have notified The Rams Club of this intention. Each member in the group must be in the same Priority Group, and will choose based on the lowest-ranked member-#1490.
EXAMPLE 8 ... Andy is a UNC faculty member who also maintains a Rams Club membership. Andy will be notified at a later date under separate communication about how Faculty/Staff tickets will be assigned, and whether he should participate in this selection process or take designated Faculty/Staff seating.
EXAMPLE 9 ... Steve has been attending games at Kenan Stadium with his parents for many years. He wants to maintain seats in the same area as his parents. Can he inherit his parents' priority? Rams Club policy has always been that points and ticket rights in Kenan Stadium are not inheritable. To maintain similar priority as his parents, Steve will need to make gifts to build his points to a level consistent with his parents.
EXAMPLE 10 ... Dirk is a donor at the Ram level. He has had season tickets for five years. When will he choose his seats? Dirk will choose his seats in Priority Group B, after all Priority Group A seats have been chosen-similar to the policy that was formerly in place. He will be ranked with all other Rams and Tar Heels in Priority Group B, but before any "surplus" tickets or General Public tickets are assigned.
