Sophomore Season (2018)
Finished 7-3 with a 4.25 ERA in 82.2 innings • Started the season as a reliever out of the bullpen but quickly turned in to one of the most reliable arms in the weekend rotation for the Heels • Second on the team in strikeouts with 84 • Won his first two outings of the year out of the bullpen against South Florida on February 18 and ECU on February 24 • Threw 8.0 innings and struck out 12 batters in a shutout performance against Pittsburgh on March 17 in his first home start of the season • Followed that performance with 6.1 innings striking out 10 batters against Florida State on March 23 • Threw arguably his best game of the year on April 28 in the win at NC State striking out 11 batters in 8.0 innings • Threw 5.2 innings on June 3 against Houston to earn the win and clinch the Chapel Hill Regional in a thrilling 19-11 game • Picked up his only save of the year on June 8 against Stetson in the first game of the Chapel Hill Super Regional • Threw 7.0 innings in the College World Series against Mississippi State striking out 8 batters, the most for a Tar Heel pitcher since 2009, while retiring 16 consecutive batters.
Freshman Season (2017)
Finished 4-2 with a 3.00 ERA in 48.0 innings as a true freshman • Made three weekend starts but was primarily used as a reliever in 2017 • Struck out 45 batters and allowed just five extra-base hits on the year • Limited opponents to a .215 batting average • Did not allow a run in five postseason appearances, including a pair of scoreless outings against Davidson and FGCU in the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional • Picked up his first career save with a shutout inning in the regular season finale against Duke, a victory that secured UNC's 10th consecutive ACC series win • Picked up the win in his first career start with 5.0 innings of two-hit ball in a victory over Boston College on April 9 • Struck out a season-high five batters in a start against NC State on April 16 • Worked two scoreless frames to get the win over East Carolina on April 4 • Notched his first collegiate win with 3.0 innings of scoreless relief against Virginia on March 11 • Earned all-league honors in the Cape Cod League after a standout summer with the Chatham Anglers.
