AS A FRESHMAN (2006)
Shined as Carolina's primary midweek starter • Went 6-0 with a 3.08 ERA over 61.1 innings • Struck out 36 batters and walked 22 • Held opponents to a .219 batting average • Allowed just one hit over 5.2 shutout innings and took a no-hitter into the sixth in his first career start against Coastal Carolina to open the season 1-0 • Held Elon to just one run on one hit and fanned four over five innings April 4 • Struck out a career-best seven batters and allowed five hits and one unearned run in seven innings against VCU April 25 to pick up his fifth win of the year • Allowed just two hits and struck out five over 8.1 scoreless innings in his final start of the year against UNC Greensboro • Carried a no-hitter into the eighth against the Spartans • Struck out one in a scoreless inning at Alabama in the Super Regional June 10 • Also earned victories over Appalachian State March 8 and Towson March 22. Summer 2006: Posted a 3.29 ERA over 38.1 innings with the Wareham Gatemen of the Cape Cod League • Struck out 28 and walked 14 • Had only a 1-5 record but was tagged with 11 unearned runs • Team reached the league's championship series.

Did not pitch for the Tar Heels • Redshirted and rehabbed following Tommy John surgery.
